Enjoy a variety of FREE hot cocoa samples at tents located throughout town. A map with tent locations and a list of the participating businesses will be available on this page prior to the event. Participating businesses will be offering cocoa-inspired creations, cocoa and cocoa-themed merchandise, free samples and more for event attendees. Many of our restaurants and beverage establishments will also have cocoa-themed food and drinks for sale.

We’re excited to welcome Fox Crossing Stringband to the Long Grove Craft Beer Fest! This lady-led bluegrass group from Chicago has been winning hearts with their beautiful harmonies, original songwriting, and entertaining stage presence since forming in November of 2016. They have performed at events such as IBMA award-winning Frankfort Bluegrass Festival, the John Hartford Memorial Festival, East Troy Bluegrass Festival, Ladies of Bluegrass Festival, the Illinois State Fair, Wander Down Music Fest, Merchant Street Music Festival, American Music Fest, and many more!

They have also performed on the WGN Radio and WGN TV Shows, and at notable venues in Chicago such as City Winery, The Park West, and Navy Pier. These Foxes are on the run and coming to a town near you!

Chocolate Lovers Unite!

The Long Grove Chocolate Festival will return to the historic streets and parkways of downtown Long Grove, on May 17, 18, and 19, 2024. Organizers of this season’s Chocolate Fest are working to provide an amazing three days of live music, family activities, chocolate vendors, and chocolate experiences!

The new and improved historic downtown Long Grove, now construction-free after a major multi-year beautification rehab, is known for its wide array of independent, family owned and operated restaurants and stores.  Strawberry Fest marks the kickoff to summer shopping season in town, with local merchants featuring their own sweet summertime specials throughout the event weekend.  Visitors during fest weekend are invited to explore the recently beautified village and discover what makes Long Grove so flavorful.

Strawberry Festival’s organizing group, the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association, is a not-for-profit organization led by a team of elected volunteers that represent and serve the Long Grove historic district businesses and property owners, as well as the residents of the village. By hosting memorable activities and events, they are able to support the interests of members, enhance the community, and encourage the use and preservation of the historic village.

The annual Vintage Days festival will return to Long Grove on Saturday, July 27th and Sunday, July 28th. Organized by the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association, this fun-filled, throw-back celebration bridges yesterday with today. It will feature all things vintage, reclaimed, hand-made, upcycled, antique, and repurposed in an open-air marketplace.  The free family-friendly event gives everyone a plethora of enduring products they can’t find anywhere else – under the summer sun in the heart of timeless downtown Long Grove with old-time games, live music, contests, food, and drinks.

The new and improved downtown Long Grove now features modern pedestrian conveniences while still embracing its vintage allure.  Known for its wide array of independent, family-owned and operated restaurants and stores, Vintage Days also features shops and restaurants doling out historic specials all weekend long.  Visitors are invited to explore the recently beautified village to sip, shop, and dine and discover what has made downtown Long Grove so beloved for so long.

This is a free event open to the public. There will be live music, unique vintage vendors and more—all within our quaint village setting. So much to see and do during your visit!

    • Visit the Sock Monkey Museum to see the world’s largest collection of sock monkeys including vintage and antique pieces. Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win “Banjo” a custom sock monkey created from vintage materials just for Vintage Days. All proceeds from ticket purchases benefit Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest.
    • Old fashioned fun with Ma & Pa’s Candy as they spin various flavors of cotton candy on their patio for purchase.

Join us for a fantastic fall afternoon making a scarecrow to be displayed in Historic Downtown Long Grove! Over the years we’ve watched scarecrow engineers construct superheroes, cartoon characters, make-believe monsters and more. 

We encourage you to get creative with your designs. Builders should bring clothes, hats, shoes, accessories and any other items they want for customizing their scarecrow. (If you have an extra plastic milk jug for the head, please bring one).

Cost: $10 per scarecrow (station) to be donated to the HDLGBA (Non-refundable)

  • Each station may have a maximum of six people working 
  • Each station includes a frame, and stuffing to build one scarecrow (clothing, shoes, and accessories are not included)
  • The event will be held outside so please dress accordingly
  • Rain or shine (unless there is severe weather)
  • Please arrive on time. You may lose your time slot if you arrive more than 10 minutes late.

Registration is required. Walk-ins accepted if space allows throughout the event.

Local dogs throughout the area are invited to show off their best Halloween Costumes at the Historic Downtown Long Grove Annual Pet Costume Parade! Upon arrival you will check in and register your dog into one of three different categories. We can’t wait to see your pups all dressed up!

There will be one winner per category:

• Best Dressed
• Most Unique Costume
• Judge’s Favorite

Registration is not required, but strongly recommended.


Check in and registration will take place at Brother’s Field and behind Fred Astaire Dance Studio.

Historic downtown Long Grove invites you to rediscover the magic of the holidays this season. Vintage Holidays in Long Grove is what the classic holiday small town experience is all about—quaint shops, old-world charm, and family memories. Organized by the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association, Vintage Holidays 2024 will feature:

Light up Long Grove and Holiday Kick-off

Discover why Long Grove was named as one of the “10 best Christmas towns in America” by FOX News. On Friday, November 22, 6–8 pm, we welcome you to join our historic downtown business district as we light up town for the holiday season.

  • Stores open late for holiday shopping
  • Enjoy festive lights, window displays and more at individual businesses and throughout town
  • Illuminated photo stations around town
  • Visit with Santa (schedule of locations TBD)
  • Bridge Lighting at 7:30 pm with guest appearance by Village President, Bill Jacob

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides

Carriage rides are one of our most beloved activities during our Vintage Holidays season. Passengers are invited to sit back and take in the nostalgia of our historic downtown as the clattering of horse hooves lead the way.

Ride Fees
Reservations are $15 per seat (ages 5 and under ride free on an adult’s lap). 

Registration
We are again offering pre-registration for our 10-seater carriage. Please sign up at the link below and have the waiver filled out before your ride is to begin. You will need to bring your waiver with you to your ride*.  


*Rides may be cancelled due to inclement weather for the safety of the horses and our guests. If this should happen, refunds will be issued for reservations.

Caroling Around Town

Visitors who stroll historic downtown Long Grove during Vintage Holidays will not only enjoy the sights but the sounds of the holiday season too, with festive holiday carolers setting the tone. We are excited to again welcome our amazing carolers to the Village of Long Grove this season. The following groups will be out and about on the days below* bringing additional holiday cheer and wonder to the visitors of downtown.
